Helen Freeman Compton, longtime Irving resident, age 91, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017. She was born in Merit, Texas to V.N. Edward and Ethel May (Cryer) Freeman on September 8, 1925. Helen worked at TX Instruments, was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, gardening and playing the piano. She loved and was loved dearly by her grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her son Randy Compton and grandson Shannon Watkins. Left to cherish her memory is husband of 56 years, W.A. Compton Jr.; sons Ronnie Watkins and Ronnie Compton; daughter Susie Nair and husband Steve; daughter in laws Anita Watkins, Melanie Compton and Vicki Compton; grandchildren Mark Watkins, Kelly Watkins, Tiffany Granzin, Damond Compton, Jeremy Rhea, Brandy Compton and Rachel Lemire along with 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be 2:00 pm, the same day at Italy Cemetery, in Ellis County.
