Dorothy "Dot"  Britain Stafford
Dorothy “Dot” Britain Stafford, age 88, died at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Daniel “Lee” and Kate Frances (Murphy) Britain on December 8, 1928. Dot was the last surviving granddaughter of H.W. Britain, and last surviving child of Lee Britain, the original pioneer family of Irving, Texas. She was 13 Years old when she became a Christian, at First Baptist Church in Irving. She married Bill on June 5, 1948, and had been happily married for 69 years. In 1975, Dot moved to Abilene, Texas, where she lived for 40 years, before returning to her hometown of Irving. She was a member of many Square and Round Dance clubs, volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 31 years, a member of RSVP of Texas and Senior Saints in Abilene. She is preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory is husband Bill Stafford; daughter Deborah Scimeca and husband Michael; daughter Karen Anderson; son Gary Stafford and wife Lorraine; grandson Matt Anderson and wife Brooke; grandson Chris Beyer; granddaughter Melissa Blake and husband Jason; granddaughter Shellie Stafford; 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren along with numerous extended family and friends. A graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Friday, June 23, 2017 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd, Irving, Texas. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. The family requests memorial donations to a charity of your choice.
