Mary Nell Cox a long-time resident of Irving passed away November 19, 2017. She was born on March 4, 1924 in Caddo, Texas to David Arthur and Goldie Louise (Shaffer) McCarthy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Irving. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Travis Hammer Cox in 1979 and daughter Linda Sue Hamon. Left to cherish Mary’s memory are sons Richard Cox and wife Jennifer; Steven Cox and wife Susan; daughter Sandra Newton and husband Steve; sisters Dorothy Atkinson; Shirley Pribble and husband Lester; sister-in-law Barbara McCarthy; brother-in-law Ray Atkinson; grandchildren, Debbie; Don “DJ”, Angela, Travis, Jennifer and Kimberly; great-grandchildren Anthony, Davis, Emily and Easton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Irving. Memorial donations may be made to the church at 311 West Third Street, Irving, Texas 75060.
