Obituary for Sara "Sally" B. Wicks

Sara “Sally” B. Wicks a 51-year resident of Irving passed away December 19, 2017. She was born on September 17, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Henry I. Bard, Jr. and Alice L. (Hodgdon) Bard. Sally graduated from Adamson High School in Dallas in 1951 and shortly after graduation began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Sally was a member of First United Methodist Church of Irving and was a member of the Derol Todd Homebuilders
Sunday School Class. She enjoyed dancing with the Cliff Dwellers Square Dance Club; bowling in various bowling leagues, reading and ceramics. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Alice Jean Wicks. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 59 years, Jerry C. Wicks of Irving; son Carl Wicks, Jr. of North Richland Hills; grandson Alexander “Alex” Carlton Wicks and wife Andrea of North Richland Hills, Texas; granddaughter, Haley Michelle Wicks also of North Richland Hills; brother Henry I. Bard, III of Houston; sister Charlene Windham of Kilgore; nieces Laura Akers of Houston and Glenda Bailey of Kilgore. The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, December 22, 2017 at First United Methodist Church of Irving, with interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following the funeral service.
