Emma M. Gonzales “Nena” (Licona) Our Beloved Mommy passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Ashford Hall Nursing Home while she was on hospice with Lion Hospice after a long illness with Parkinson’s Disease. Emma was born August 17, 1937 in Marion, Texas to Inocensio and Francesca Licona. She was united in marriage to Jose S. Gonzales Jr. October 17, 1965 in Littlefield, Texas. He preceded her in death February 14, 2005. They were married for 39 years. Emma and Joe moved to Irving, Texas with their baby Joe S. Gonzales III in 1968 and she worked as a cook at many bowling centers in the DFW area and later retired after years of working for Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving, Texas as a cook. She loved to cook, serve, and to see the enjoyment of the ones eating what she prepared. She was a Very Hard worker and many days worked long hours but always took care of her kids and home too. She touched many hearts and she will live on in all of the ones touched by her presence for years to come! Emma’s mother passed away at the young age of 35, leaving three young children. Emma was two years old, brother Emiliano four years old, and Arturo six months old. The father couldn’t handle them all so Aunt Eloise Montalvo and Uncle Manuel Montalvo raised Emma and Arturo along with their children. Emma was preceded in death by Inocensio and Francesco Licona, Manuel and Eloise Montalvo, brothers Emiliano and Arturo Licona, Rudy, Victor, Amado, and Hector Montalvo and Niece Rosalinda and Nephew Christopher. She is survived by her sisters, Alicia, Bertha, Lucy, Cris, and Rachel as well as their spouses. Brother, Robert, Son, Joe S. Gonzales III and wife Belia. Son, Tony Gonzales, and Daughter, Rachel R. Garcia and husband Larry. Adopted daughters and daughter in laws, Angelica, Patricia, and Alba. Grandchildren, Alex Garcia, Marisela Gonzales, Jasmine Acuna, Jesse Garcia, Ramsey Villareal, Matthew Garcia, Jose, Victor, Alex, and Maria Gallardo and Great Grandchildren Roberto, Paula, and Victor Gallardo and Penelope Villareal. Many Wonderful Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and her Best Friend Dona Mari.Services for Emma will be Thursday January 8, 2015 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 707 North MacArthur Blvd. Irving, Texas 75061 at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Deacon from St. Lukes Catholic church will say the rosary at 6:00 p.m. On Friday January 9, 2015 also at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Pastora Alma will officiate the ceremony for Emma. Immediately following ceremony a lunch will be provided at Garden & Arts Building 906 Senter Rd. Irving, TX 75060.
