Obituary for William Tolbert "Bill" Jones

William Tolbert "Bill"  Jones
William Tolbert Jones (Bill), age 84, died Friday, June 3, 2016. He was born in Snyder, TX on April 13, 1932 to Jesse and Iris (Bullock) Jones. During his 84 years of life, Bill lived a full and accomplished life, leaving behind a legacy his family will forever remember. In 1952, he left Snyder, Texas after being drafted and sent Alabama, where he joined the United States Army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville. Bill was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey, where he began his career in Electrical Engineering. August 28, 1957, Bill received his Bachelor Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering (with honors), from Texas Tech University, he then continued his education receiving a masters degree from SMU. After graduation he began his lifelong career at Texas Instruments, National Semiconductor, Avnet and Hallmark Electronics, and was involved in the early development of the computer and computer systems we all benefit from today. In 1987, at the young age of 55, Bill showed his strength and determination to live the fullest life possible, recovering from a sudden stroke, and returning back to work soon after, until his retirement in June of 1992. Bill enjoyed golfing, wood working, doing yardwork and serving his church through any work needed. Left to cherish and remember his life and legacy is wife of 63 years, Wilda Jones; son Jesse and wife Keri Jones; Adam and wife Noori Jones; daughter Karen and husband Chuck Hreha; brother Wylie and wife Linda Jones; grandchildren, Kacy and husband Justin Keplinger, Mallory and husband Ben Praught, Navid Jones, Trevor Benson, Jordan and wife Audrey Roth, Jesse T. Jones, Dylan Jones and Grant Jones; great grandchildren Jackson, Aiden and Sebastian, and the soon expected baby boy Praught being born to the proud parents of Mallory and Ben. The family will be receiving friends between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, Monday, June 6, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11:30 am, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, TX; Committal with Military Honors directly following.
