Mary Ann Lovell, age 78, died Friday, November 18, 2016 peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Claude, Texas to A.D. and Louise (Raby) Smalley on September 25, 1938. In 1958 while attending Texas Tech University, Mary Ann, met her future husband Jan Lovell. In 1959 they married and Mary Ann completed her schooling in 1960, earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She taught for a few years before dedicating herself as a stay at home mom and devoted church volunteer. Mary Ann was one of the last remaining charter members of Northgate United Methodist Church, where she spent so much of her time. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Doris Southhall. Left to cherish her memory is husband of 57 years, Jan Lovell; daughter Sylvia Ann Pollard and husband Kris of Coppell; daughter Lynda Gay Lovell and partner Tim Lutz of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; sister Ruth Smith of Amarillo; brother Raby Smalley; 3 grandchildren Bari Noel, Shafer Lewis and Lilli Ann Pollard along with numerous additional family and friends. Visitation will be held between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, Monday, November 21, 2016 at Browns Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Northgate United Methodist Church with interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
