Obituary for Johnie B. Lange

Johnie B. Lange
Johnie B. Lange passed away Wednesday November 30, 2016. Johnie was born on July 6, 1926 in Bettie Texas to U.B. and Mary Davis Lange. He is survived by his wife Joyce of 69 years; daughters Donna Millsap and husband Bill; Dianne Jensen and husband Bob; Debbie Barnes and husband Tracy; four grand-children and seven great grand-children. Johnie is a veteran of World War II, having joined the Navy after graduating high-school. He proudly served aboard the USS Wasp of the Carrier Air Group 86 during the Pacific theater and narrowly survived several close kamikaze attacks, one of them being shot down within 15 feet of the ship. Johnie was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Irving and served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, money-counter, and greeter. For several years he planned trips for church members to places such as Branson, Nashville, San Antonio, Fon-du-Lac in Wisconsin, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Johnie’s greatest joy and purpose in life was to serve others. He was a master composter and avid gardener and shared the fruits of his labor with many. He was always ready to help and do whatever was needed no matter how menial. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving. Committal with military honors will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
