Gilbert M.  Villanueva
Gilbert M. Villanueva, age 84, died surrounded by his loving family Thursday, December 1, 2016. He was born on September 1, 1932 to Juan and Juanita (Martinez) Villanueva in Calvert, Texas. Gilbert joined the United States Army at the end of the Korean War in 1953. He enjoyed working with his hands building and fixing anything, and was very gifted at what he did, and this was reflected in his career as sheet metal mechanic. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Tito and Joe Villanueva. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 25 years Hortencia Villanueva of Irving; son Albert Villanueva and wife Cindy of Irving; daughter Velia Mooney and husband Chuck of Grand Prairie; son Steve Pena of Carrollton; daughter Cynthia Ramerez and husband Mark of Irving; daughter Angela Gamez and husband Gene of Dallas; grandchildren David, Matt, Lindsay, Sarah, Joseph, Megan, Mark Jr., Gabriella and Alex; 9 great grandchildren; siblings Dolores Cantu, Arturo Villanueva and wife Jean, Sarah Pantoja and husband Manuel along with numerous additional extended family and friends. Gilbert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all, and will be deeply missed. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a committal with Military Honors at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Dallas. A visitation will be held between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the funeral home.
