Charles William Holt, Jr. was born December 27, 1955 in Dallas, Texas to Charles William Holt Sr. and Ramona Ellen (Mona) Holt. Charles Jr., better known as Chuck, was the younger of two children, the eldest being a sister, Carol Lynn Holt. He spent his youth playing sports, baseball, wrestling, football and boxing, where he won a Golden Gloves award. Chuck’s athleticism led to college scholarships, however he opted out to pursue other adventures. He was employed as an underwater welder, and later a lead construction man and painter. Chuck loved to play the drum for fun, but was a talented musician, having played with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and many other well-known musicians; at one time he owned one of Led Zeppelin’s drum sets. In addition to his love of music, Chuck had a real love and passion for fishing. He and his cousin Don Bell, spent countless hours fishing at Lake Lavon. They would fish in the mornings, in the night, on the coldest days of winter and the hottest days of summer; rumor has it they even fished in the falling snow. In recent years, fishing stories were the only stories that could get a response from Chuck. Later in life he suffered with multiple disorders and lost the ability to communicate with words, however he never lost his ability to communicate with his smile, or if you made him mad, with a little bit of a fight. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by sister Carol Holt Miller and husband David; uncle Jerry Bell and wife Lorraine; uncle Mike Bell and wife Nancy; aunt Frances Young along with numerous cousins, family and friends. “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; neither sorrow; nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for former things are passed away.” Rev. 21:4
