David L. Powell, Sr. passed away December 22, 2016. He was born on January 2, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to Otto Maurell and Elizabeth “Fluhman” Powell. David served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1962 and later worked as an automotive mechanic. He is preceeded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are wife Wanda Powell of Grand Prairie; son David L. Powell, Jr. of Dallas; daughter Vonda K. Armstrong of Dallas; son Jonathan G. Powell of Grand Prairie; grandsons, Jason L. Gallatin and wife Krystal of Irving; Eric S. Gallatin and wife Kandace of Irving; granddaughter Sarah A. Powell of Little Elm, Texas; great-grandchildren Gavin, Lily, Kaylee and Hunter; sister Betty Lewis of Cedar Hill, Texas and brother Bill Powell and wife Judy of Carrollton, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:15 AM Friday, December 30, 2016 at The Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with Brother Dale Parkhill officiating.
