Obituary for Victor Lee "Vickie" Cantrell (Cox)

Victor Lee "Vickie" Cantrell (Cox)
Victor Lee (Vickie) Cantrell passed away February 3, 2017 at her home in Irving, Texas. She was born on December 4, 1924 in Frost, Navarro County, Texas to Leslie Allen and Ada Joe Cox. She was named after one of her mother’s uncles, but since Victor Lee is a masculine name, she always went by the name of Vickie. She lived most of her life in Ft. Worth where she graduated from Paschal High School in 1942. She met Newton Carl (Pat) Patton while working at Rexall Drug Company distribution office in Ft. Worth. They were married by Judge Gus Brown, J.P. on April 13, 1945. Vickie and Pat were married for 19 years until his death in 1964. A year after Pat’s death, Vickie married Charles Carroll Cantrell. During their marriage, Vickie and Charles lived in both Fort Worth and Granbury, Texas. Vickie was a very good cook. Her coconut cream meringue pies and brownies were wonderful. She was also a good seamstress; she made most of her daughter Vici’s clothes. She even made formal dresses and dance costumes for Vici. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Vickie was always active in Vici’s school functions and was a Troup Leader in the Bluebirds and the Camp Fire Girls. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Leslie Owen Cox, and husband Charles Carroll Cantrell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughter Vici Lester Churchman and husband Wayne of Irving; grandson Chris Churchman and wife Elena of Dallas. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
