John Herbert Hassell, age 80, died Monday, April 3, 2017. He was born in Rusk, Texas to John Wesley and Leona (Hugghins) Hassell on December 23, 1936. John is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is wife Retha L. Hassell; sons Anthony Kirk, Timothy Dale and Mathew Greg Hassell; grandson Andrew Kirk Hassell; granddaughter Brianna Nicole Hassell; sister Bettie Sue Miller along with numerous extended family and friends. A visitation will be held at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, April 7, 2017 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, 10:00 am, Saturday April 8, 2017 with interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following the service.
