Obituary for Charles Harrington

Charles Harrington, was born 12/12/1939, in Waco, Texas to Eva O. Harrington. He was the first grandchild, and was raised by Albert and Etha Harrington, in Bowdon, GA. Charles graduated in 1958 from Bowdon High School, home to the Red Devils in Carroll County where he lettered in basketball and football. He received his bachelors degree from the University of Texas in Arlington. In 1985 Charles opened Harrington Insurance Agency in Irving, where he ran a successful business for 30 years. He was a coach with Irving Boys Football Association, member of Ambucs and of Irving Elks Lodge #2334. Charles is preceded in death by his mother, his step dad Ellis E. Dunn and son Matt in 2010. Left to cherish his memory is wife Shirley; daughter Kymberley Walz and husband Christian, their children Chris, Ryan, Lauren Ledbetter and Oscar Walz; Matt’s daughter Madison Harrington; daughter Patricia Alyea and husband Brent, their children Kirtlan Spaulding, Brent and Brooke Alyea ; daughter Missy Benson and husband Brad, their children Alex and Sydney; daughter Julie Pickard and husband Justin, their children Bailey and Braden; daughter Kristy Cash and husband Kenneth, their children Trevor, Lucas, and Leah along with numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Oak View Baptist Church, 1004 South Story Road, Irving, Texas 75060; an Elks Lodge Committal Rites will be held at the conclusion of this service, with interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following. The family will receive friends Monday, April 17, 2017 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. The family request memorials to Texas Elks Children services, Inc. at 1963 FM 1586, Gonzales, Texas 78629.
