Wanda N. Powell, passed away August 24, 2017. She was born on June 8, 1947 in Leonard, Texas, to Opal Burcham and raised by Quentin and Ima Tate with cherished childhood memories of growing up with her cousin Agatha Caplinger who she considered her sister. Wanda’s husband, David L Powell Sr., passed on December 22, 2016. Married December 19, 1964, together they shared 52 years of marriage. Wanda was a loving mother, granny, and cherished friend with a deep faith in the Lord. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her children David L. Powell, Jr. and partner Don Bullian of Dallas, Vonda K. Armstrong of Dallas, Jonathan G. Powell of Grand Prairie; grandchildren Jason L. Gallatin and wife Krystal of Irving, Eric S. Gallatin and wife Kandace of Irving, Sarah A. Powell of Little Elm, Texas; great-grandchildren Gavin, Lily, Kaylee and Hunter; brothers John Burcham and wife Carol, Virgil Burcham and wife Kathy, and Bill Burcham and wife Patricia; cousin Agatha Caplinger; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 31, 2017 at The Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery with Brother Dale Parkhill officiating.
