Obituary for Katherine Reamer (Morris)

Katherine Reamer passed away of natural causes August 26, 2017 in Irving Texas after a long, full life.

Katherine was born May 19, 1918 in Clarksville, Texas to Robert Byron Morris and Lydia (Alford) Morris. The family later moved to Dallas. The second of five children, Katherine was a lifelong Texan and lived close to her family her entire life, helping to care for older sister Ruth Morris.

Katherine married Jack Reamer on February 4, 1937. The couple enjoyed a long and happy marriage that lasted more than 50 years. After Jack’s passing in 1991, Katherine and her sisters Lillie and Ruth shared a house together in Irving. After Ruth passed away, Katherine and Lillie moved into the same retirement facility to continue to support and care for each other.

Katherine started working for a small commercial roofing company as an office assistant as a young woman. As the company grew she was invited to become a partner and was a key player in the company’s growth and success. Katherine was also an accomplished artist, Bridge player and community volunteer. A strong Christian, Katherine was a member of the First Baptist Church of Irving for 75 years, serving in the pre-school department for many years. Katherine was also an active supporter of Lyric Stage.

Katherine’s quiet temperament and caring, compassionate way earned her the love and adoration of many. She was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews, and loving friend to those who knew her.

Katherine was predeceased by her parents; sisters Ruth Morris, Lillie Morris Burke Hinde, R.B. Morris, Jr. and Albert Morris; nephews Robert Burke III and Donald Burke; and her beloved husband Jack.
