Avis Jordan, age 93, died peacefully Sunday, November 12, 2017. She was born in Stephens County, Texas to Samuel and Sally (Griffin) Waters on January 12, 1924. Avis was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil Jordan, brother William Melvin Waters and sister Lorene Ingham. Left to cherish and carry on her legacy is son Kenneth Jordan and wife Sue; daughter Debbie Smithey; grandchildren Brandi Smithey, Steve Jordan and Craig Jordan; great grandchildren Casey and Jessie Jordan; great great grandchild Victoria Jordan along with numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd., in Irving, with interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2017 also at the funeral home.
