Obituary for Ray King

Ray  King
Ramon (Ray) Lee King was born January 29, 1936 in Texola, Oklahoma and lived his young life in Fletcher and Cyril, Oklahoma. He graduated from Cyril High School in 1954. After graduation Ray joined the United States Navy and was stationed in California where he met and married his wife, Helen, in February 1957. Following his four-year service in the Navy, Ray worked in electronics and data communications from 1958 until he retired in 1998. The family moved from California to Irving, Texas early in his career and he had been a resident of Irving for 51 years. Ray enjoyed sports and enjoyed playing and watching golf. He, especially like the University of Oklahoma Sooners football team. Not only did Ray coach and officiate little league sports in Irving, but he also served as a director in Kidsport. Ray was preceded in death by his mother, father, one sister, one brother, and two sons. He is survived by his wife, Helen of Irving; three sons: Jerry W. King of Irving, Ron and wife Diana of Grapevine, and Jeff of Fayetteville, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Olivia Wimberly and husband Chad of Akron, Ohio, Victoria King of Grapevine, Emma Mosley and husband Andrew of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Jeremy King of Winter Park, Florida, and Josh King of Grapevine: one brother, Jerry R. King and wife Janet of Azel; several nieces, nephews, and many who called him Uncle Ray. Ray was a devoted family man and his family was always his first thought. He will be greatly missed by many. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 6:00-8:00PM at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. The family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org.
