Jimmy Cox, age 84, died on Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Jimmy was born on December 11, 1933 in Avery, Texas to Elmer Noel Cox and Della Corine (Nelson) Cox. Jimmy was born and raised in Avery, Texas, and lived in Irving, Texas from 1954 – 1985, after which he moved back to Avery. While in Irving, he worked as a driver for the Irving Fire Department for 20 years before retiring in 1985. Jimmy is preceded in death by his wife Helen Cox (1978), father Elmer Cox; sisters Janice Cox and Linda Day; brother Kenneth Cox. Left behind to cherish his memory are sons Jerry Cox and wife Sheila and Mark Cox and wife Tina; grandkids Tiffany Tyer and husband Jason, Lindsey Peterson and husband Shawn, Stephen Baily and wife Treasa, Dylan Aldridge, Bryon Aldridge; great grandkids Tori Tyer, Trenton Tyer, Cade Petersen, Chandler Petersen, Zamantha Bailey, Alex Bailey, Stephen Bailey, Azrael Aldridge; mother Corine Cox; brothers Clyde Cox and Aubrey Cox; as well as numerous other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens 1413 E.
