Condolence: Duff will be missed by all. He was a good friend and I will always remember him as a great baseball player and someone that always took the high road. Fond memories of when our kids played Little League. God Bless

Condolence: Marlon was a dear friend of mine in high school. We lost touch and Marlon moved away from Albuquerque. I remember one time when we were hiking in the Jicarilla Apache Wilderness with our dogs. Marlon had just got a puppy that he cherished. As we hiked, a huge Great Horned Owl appeared in the distance. The owl had a thick body, three to four foot wing span, fierce talons, and a sharp beak. It appeared far away, circling and gliding from branch to branch, getting closer and closer. We were awestruck. What an amazing opportunity to see such a majestic bird of prey. But suddenly, the big owl took on a different look. It took a nose dive, swooping down towards Marlon's puppy in attack mode. With talons extended in front of his body, the owl was within twenty feet of the cowaring puppy. At that moment I witnessed Marlon's true nature. In less than a second, Marlon took his walking stick, started screaming and running at the owl, and took a huge baseball swing at it. The owl swerved and barely missed Marlon's head before flying off into the sky. Marlon put himself in harms way to protect his puppy. I am convinced that the puppy would have been killed, or at least severely injured had Marlon not instinctively taken action. Marlon had demonstrated his selfless disposition and his bravery. His life ended way too early. I wish I could sit down with him and share a good laugh over a story or two. Marlon's faith guided his life as well as those around him and I'm fortunate to have known him. Peace to his family. Rest assured that Marlon's spirit lives on in all of us and his light still shines brightly to guide our way. Oh, and by the way, that big ol' Great Horned Owl was lucky it swerved away from Marlon's big swing of his walking stick. Marlon was an amazing athlete and a heck of a baseball player.
