Sheila Elizabeth  Foster
Sheila Elizabeth Foster was born to George Foster and Henrietta (Meadlin) Foster on May 7, 1954 in Mulberry, AR. She passed away on March 14, 2018 at her home after a two-year battle with cancer. She was raised in Irving, TX and attended Barton Elementary, Crockett Junior High, and Nimitz High Schools.
After graduation, Sheila attended business school and landed her first job as a key-punch operator with American Cyanamid in Dallas, TX. She then became a Customer Service Representative and worked there for 21 years. Sheila began working as an Administrative Assistant in the Auxiliary Enterprises department at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
She eventually became an Administrative Coordinator until her early retirement due to her illness after 21 years.
Sheila was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving, TX for over 50 years. She always loved music and singing and had a beautiful voice. While in high school she was a member of The New Hope Singers of Texas where she travelled and sang. Since 2008, Sheila was a member of Texas Harmony Chorus, an acapella chorus who was like her second family. She was a Lead and member of the front row where she twice earned Belle of Harmony (2009 and 2015), Wall of Fame recipient, and Sweet Adelines Extraordinaire. She held positions as Team Coordinator, Membership Coordinator, Events Coordinator, Communication Coordinator, Lead Section Leader, Tape Evaluator, DarT Member, and Show Chairman.
Sheila is preceded in death by her father, George Foster, and grandparents, Charlie (Bud) and Virgie Meadlin. She is survived by her mother, Henrietta Foster of Irving, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Tom and Sheria Foster Oswalt of Flower Mound, TX; and nieces, Jillian Elizabeth Oswalt of Dallas, TX and Annelise Kathryn Oswalt of Flower Mound, TX. She leaves behind her beloved dogs, Desi and Chica, and a number of friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving, with visitation following the service. A graveside service will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Cooper, Texas on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 11:00am.
