Mary A.  Luna (Avila)
Mary A. Luna, age 93, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was born in Austin, Texas to Salvador and Jovita (Aleman) Avila on May 29, 1924. Mary was a devout Catholic and long-time member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Irving. She was known for her craft of making tamales and took pride in teaching the rest of her family this skill. Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grand mother and great great grandmother, who left an amazing legacy to carry on her memory. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Tony E. Luna, both her parents, son Tony A. Luna along with many loving brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. Mary is survived by her sisters Patty Ledesma and Nellie Santa Anna; daughter Annabelle Torres and husband Richard; daughter Bertha Luna; son Carlos Luna and wife Judy; grandchildren Denise Luna, Sabrina Selvera, Charles Byron, Kristie George, Richard M. Torres, Cindy Torres, Nick Luna, Talia Cunningham, Gabriel Gonzalez, Megan Torres, and Tyson Torres; great grandchildren Erika Peppers, Hayley Byron, Banan Cunningham, Stefani Torres and Natalie Gloria; great great grandchild Rylee Peppers plus 1 on the way, along with numerous extended loving extended family and friends. The family will receive friend at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd, 2 evenings beginning Wednesday, April 25, 2018 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, then again on Thursday, April 26, 2018 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 202 S. MacArthur Blvd, in Irving at 11:00 am on Friday, April 27, 2018. Interment will immediately follow the Mass at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane in Dallas, TX.
