Ken Hoenig, age 83, died on Friday, June 1, 2018. Ken was born in Dallas, Texas on May 21, 1935. Ken was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served for 8 years. He was a life member of the VFW 2494 in Irving and was a 3 times past commander, holding all offices at least once. Ken enjoyed listening to country music and riding bulls in the rodeo. He loved to travel, volunteer and participate in talent shows, once dressed up as Dolly Parton lip syncing to a song. Ken and his wife Margaret were married for 30 years and they were inseparable. Ken is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Left to cherish his memory are his precious wife Margaret; daughter Jerri Dawson; sons Phillip Liles, Mark Cullop, and Stuart Cullop; many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as many other extended family and friends. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A memorial service will be held 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the funeral home with an interment following at 2:00 PM at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. Following the interment there will be a small reception at VFW Post 2494, behind Skate Land on Beltline Road. The family requests memorial donations to the VFW 2494 Relief Fund by contacting the post at 972-790-1611 and speaking with Glen Reno.
