Obituary for Mary Witherspoon (McNeal)

Mary Witherspoon (McNeal)
Mary Witherspoon, age 93, died on Friday, June 29, 2018. Mary was born on June 19, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to John Wesley McNeal and Margaret (McNally) McNeal. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She was a classically trained violinist who played with the Dallas Symphony. She also enjoyed playing the guitar and was a tap dancer. Mary loved being outdoors where she could enjoy bird watching, camping, going on long walks, and visiting state parks. She liked going to the State Fair of Texas, and even went to the Centennial State Fair in 1936. She enjoyed reading all kinds of books, doing crossword puzzles and playing solitaire. She was a vicious scrabble player and always won. She was a long-time resident of Irving for 39 years. Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her spouse of 38 plus years William Vance Witherspoon. Left to cherish her memory are children Carol Leininger, Bill Witherspoon, Michele Horak, and Susan Witherspoon; grandchildren Jennifer Tate, Linda Bilbo and husband Aaron, Amanda Horak, Kim Smith, and Kyle Wade Witherspoon; great grandchildren Arellyn McDonald and husband Jordan, Susanna Bilbo, Kelsey Smith, Haley Smith, Macie Tate, Ashton Bilbo, Dylan Smith, and Aidan Tate; great-great grandchildren Grayson and Owen, as well as many other loving friends and extended family.
