Obituary for Tyrus "Chief" Mahsetky

Tyrus "Chief" Mahsetky
Tyrus “Chief” Mahsetky, age 77 passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018. Tyrus was born on December 22, 1940 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Mack Mahsetky and Sophia (Tahmakera) Mahsetky. Some of his favorite past times were watching Texas Rangers Baseball, bull riding and rodeo, listening to Oldies and Christmas music (year-round!) and if you traveled with Tyrus he could tell you the best BBQ or catfish place to eat at almost anywhere he went. A proud Comanche, Tyrus loved God, his family (especially his grand and great grandchildren) and his country. He always spoke his mind and his quick humor was always good for a laugh. Tyrus Mahsetky served, with honor, in the United States Air Force from February 3, 1961 to February 2, 1965 earning the rank of Airman First Class. His awards include the Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals and the Longevity ribbon. He is 1 of 1,242 Comanches that served in the Armed Forces of the United States including 184 in the Air Force. We thank A1C Mahsetky for his dedicated, faithful and honorable service in the United States Air Force for the state of Oklahoma, the Comanche Nation and the Republic. Tyrus is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years Kathryn Mahsetky in 2007, and numerous brothers and sisters. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Bonita Mahsetky Hill of Tyler and Monica Mahsetky of Grand Prairie; grandchildren Kara Mahsetky Rogers and husband Zach, Mallory Mahsetky and husband Nathan Sauer, Jordan Tyrus Aldrich and wife Daniela, Chase Aldrich, and Hillary Aldrich; great grandchildren Tyrus Cole Rogers, Emma Renee Rogers, Rose Madeline Sauer, Lucy Kathryn Aldrich, Abigail Isla Aldrich, and a great grandson due in two months; and his sister Mitzie Laurenzana; as well as many other extended family and loving friends. The family is planning a visitation for Sunday, July 29th, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
