Mary L.  Pittman (Pierce)
Mary L. Pittman, age 84, entered Heavens gate on Sunday, July 29, 2018. She was born in Oklahoma, City to Thomas Lockart and Alva Ruth (Cathey) Pierce on February 24, 1934. Mary was a dedicated member of Christ Church of Irving for over 40 years, and a founding member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abiline, Texas. She enjoyed her bible studies, teaching Sunday School and was always active in vacation Bible school. Mary will be remembered most for her excellent baking skills, and her keen ability to keep up with old friends and family, always making them feel as if they where special in their own way, whether it be attending a performance, a graduation or remembering their birthday. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a good historical or mystery novel. Mary is, and will continue to be respected and loved by friends, family and all students she taught at Irving High School, until her retirement in 1999. She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband Bob Harris, brothers Dr. Bob Pierce and Billy Ray Pierce, sister Margaret Kohler, 2nd husband Dayle Pittman and granddaughter Kimberley Harris. Left to cherish her memory are son Dr. Paul Harris and wife Marianne; grandsons Hunter and Harrison Sims; nephew Stan Kohler and wife Margie; nephew Jeff Pierce; nephew Craig Pierce and wife Kathy; niece Denise Grice and husband Joe; granddaughter Ashley Temple – Akers; several adopted nieces and nephews along with numerous extended loving family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate the amazing life of Mary, will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 3, 2018 at Christ Church, 1750 E. Airport Fwy in Irving.
