Obituary for Aaron Garrett

Aaron Garrett, age 92, entered Heaven’s Gate on Thursday, August 9, 2018. He was born in Lake Creek, Texas to Daniel Cary and Eva Lena (Myers) Garrett on September 21, 1925. Aaron was a very active, dedicated, longtime member and Chairman of Deacons at First Baptist Church in Irving. He was a long-term member of the Irving Masonic Lodge 1218 A.F. & A.M. In November of 1944, Aaron joined the United States Army, where he served in Germany as a Military Policeman with the 709th Battalion, during World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Garrett, son John Garrett, Brother Arnold Garrett and sister Modell Miller. Left to carry on his legacy are son Don Garrett and wife Joyce; son Scott Garrett and wife Suzette; sister Audry Maurice Parham; sister in law Jo Duke; grandchildren Jeffrey Garrett and wife Jessamyn, Kent Garrett and wife Nicole, Melanie Garrett, John Garrett, Ashley Garrett, Jana Taylor and husband Scott; great grandchildren Jackson, Hudson and Eleanor Garrett. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving on Friday, August 17, 2018. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 403 South Main Street, Irving. Masonic Burial Rites and a Committal Service with Military Honors will occur at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving following.
