Obituary for Floyd R. Baty

Floyd R.  Baty
Floyd R. Baty, age 87, awoke in Heaven on Sunday, August 19, 2018. He was born in Brownwood, Texas to Floyd Earl and Mary Margaret (Miller) Baty on November 6, 1930. Floyd joined the U.S. Navy in 1948 and retiring Master Chief Constructionman in 1968. During his service Floyd proudly defended his country during both the Korean and Vietnam era. Floyd played a very important role in the famous Navy Construction Battalion, known as the “SEABEES.” He was also a member of the U.S. Navy Fleet Reserve Association. After retiring from the Navy, Floyd enjoyed and took pride teaching as a vocational instructor at Texas A&M, in College Station. He is reunited with his loving wife Sarah Rosie Baty and grandson Jake Van Alstine. Left to cherish his memory is daughter Irene Van Alstine; son Floyd Ray Baty Jr. and wife Irina; grandchildren Simon Ray Baty, Paul Ray Baty and Andrey Saparov along with numerous extended family and loving friends. A visitation will be on Thursday, August 23, 2018 between 6:00 and 8:00pm at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving. A graveside service with Full Military Honors will be 11:15am, Friday, August 24, 2018 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn Creek Parkway in Dallas. Please arrive and line up in Lane 2, fifteen minutes prior to the service, at 11:00 am. The family request memorial donations to the Armed Forces Retirement Home which can be mailed to 1800 Beach Drive, Gulf Port, Mississippi 39507, please make checks payable to AFRH Resident Fund.
