Alan W. Alcorn, also known as “Daddy”, “Papa” and “Big Papa” passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born in Irving, Texas to David “Jack” and Durrell (Ketner) Alcorn on Wednesday, December 1, 1943. Alan was a man’s man, he enjoyed building and tinkering with things, working on cars, going to car shows, fishing, and hunting. Alan retired from American Airlines, where he had worked for 33 ½ years. He was a member of the Mom & Pop Car Club in Irving. He is reunited with his parents, and wife Nora. He and Nora will be celebrating their 56th anniversary this Friday together in Heaven. Left to cherish the time they had with him are his daughter Cindy Dowlen and husband Jeff; daughter Betty Meeks and husband Les; daughter Gloria Martin and husband Jeff; 7 grandchildren Tera Barnes (Tarren), Amber Phillips (Austin), Kyle Kirby (Cecily), Sarah Miller (Micheal), Jake Meeks, Erika Martin and Jeffrey Martin; 10 great grandchildren Greenlee, Bentley, Kinsler, Tatum, Parker, Oaklee, Brooklyn, Stryker, Radlee and Kamdyn; sister Kaye Vaught and husband Fred; brother David Alcorn; brother Jerry Alcorn and wife Ketut; bonus daughters Tonya Hill and Paula Hutto along with numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. The funeral will be 10:00am, Thursday, September 20, 2018 also at the funeral home, with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens Immediately following. Alan will forever be remembered as a loving daddy, papa, big papa and dear friend who was always there to help others and will be deeply missed.
