Obituary for James Brooks

James Brooks entered his Heavenly home on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 93 years of age. He was born in Irving, Texas to Brenton and Lector (Cromer) Brooks on Monday, April 12, 1926. James, affectionately known by some as Jimmy, was a servant of the highest order. He aspired to live the Christian life and succeeded in so many ways. Those that crossed paths with James felt blessed having done so. He was a very organized individual, and his attention to detail reached a level of its own, which was evident in the work he did. James served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was a 60-year Mason with the Irving Masonic Lodge #1218. He was a fisherman and would stop anywhere the water gathered, in the chance he could get a small nibble or catch. He also enjoyed watching the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks play. James possessed a wonderful wit, and always had an answer for anything and everything. Having never uttered a harsh word, family and friends lovingly remember what a joy it was to be around James, and the ability he had to produce a smile on others faces. James loved his family and friends and would care for them without complaint, he also invested much into the lives of people as a powerful instrument of God’s righteousness and will be deeply missed. He is preceded in death by his parents Brenton and Lector Brooks, sisters Norma Neal, Lorene Mammen and Sue Pullen. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life and wife of 68 years, Theresa Brooks; son Terry Brooks; son Jay Brooks and wife Mary as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and loving friends. A funeral service will be held at 10:30am, on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving with an interment at oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
