Obituary for Filberto Martinez

Filberto “Beto” Martinez, age 85, died on Friday, September 7, 2018. Beto was born in Dallas, Texas on August 20, 1933 to Gregorio Gutierrez Martinez and Ygnacia (Aldana) Martinez. Beto was married for 61 years to the love of his life Edith Sanchez. He was a loyal provider, and his family always came first. Beto was a very patient, loving father and husband, who was even tempered and caring. He was an all-around good person with a warm soul and a strong faith. Beto served honorably in the United States Army. He was a hardworking man with many trades: carpenter, mechanic, electrician, and plumber. He used these trades to serve his church with any repairs they needed. Beto was a life-long faithful catholic. In his spare time, he also loved the Dallas Cowboys, he was a big sports fan, and he liked watching westerns, gameshows, and especially wheel of fortune. Beto is preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his spouse Edith Martinez; two sisters; one brother; eight children; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many friends and family from Panama as well as Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at St. Mary of Carmel, 2900 Vilbig Road Dallas, TX 75212. An interment will immediately follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane Dallas, TX 75220.
