Obituary for Selena Dennington Allen

Selena Dennington Allen, age 53, died peacefully with many of her loved ones by her side on Saturday, October 27, 2018. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Joyce A. Cooper and Jimmy E. Dennington on Sunday, September 19, 1965. Selena, even from a young age, lived her life showing generosity, integrity, loyalty, kindness and dedication to all around her. She held an admiration for horses, butterflies and bright colors, her favorites being purple and turquoise. Selena was an avid reader, and talented jewelry maker, in her younger years she would make necklaces and bracelets that she sold door to door and would use the money to help feed the homeless. She was very artistic, her talents ranged from bright eccentric colored art pages, all the way to designing and creating beautiful handcrafted macrame' plant hangers. She was a lover of all animals, mammal and aquatic alike, but no one foresaw that in less than 4 years after buying her grandbaby Kaiden his first fish tank, they would own 5 tanks and be productively breeding and selling fish back to the pet store. Throughout her life, Selena consistently displayed her craft of being an independent and self taught woman, able to build, adjust and repair anything she saw or had interest in. She will lovingly be remembered for her strong mind and will, being a hard worker, free spirited and at times super stubborn and a bit outspoken. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents Jimmy and Joyce, son Brian Dennington, and lifelong best friend and cousin Irene Krause. Left to cherish her memory are son Joseph "Joey" Holz; son Richard "Ricky" Holz; daughter Haley "Bird" Scurlock; grandson and the love of her life Kaiden Sotelo; granddaughter Faith Holz; grandson Landon Black; grandson Wesley McDonald; brother James "Jimbo" Dennington; sister Terry Dasilva; brother Buddy Green; brother William "Will" Green; sister Leewanda Addington and husband George; loyal and loving canine Moses, along with numerous extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Friday, November 2, 2018 at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving. A funeral will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the funeral home. After the funeral service, the family invites you to join them for a reception at Centennial Park, at the pavilions, 444 W. 2nd Street in Irving.
