Obituary for Charles Ray Stephenson



Charles Ray Stephenson of Irving passed away October 27, 2018. He was born on December 27, 1931 in Keller, Texas to Gordon Lee and Valerio (Neeley) Stephenson. Charles graduated from Roanoke High School in 1949 and went to North Texas College graduating with a BS in physical education in 1953, he later went back to North Texas obtaining his master’s degree in 1957. Charles served his country in the United States Army prior to beginning his 34 year teaching career with Irving ISD. He taught at Bowie Junior High School and later moved to Crockett Junior High to coach football, baseball, basketball and track and teaching history there for five years. He taught at MacArthur High School in Irving teaching health, physical education and driver’s education. He finished his teaching career as the coordinator of driver’s education. He loved to play baseball, softball, golf, and hunting and fishing. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother G. L. Stephenson, Jr; sister Nina Mae Outlaw and son Dale Lee Stephenson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife of 57 years Monna Stephenson; son Blain Stephenson and wife Lisa; son, Grant Stephenson; grandchildren Amanda Bohrer and husband Mike; Alexis Stephenson and Fiance Zac Clevinger; Collin Stephenson and Noah Stephenson; great-grandchildren Logan Rose Bohrer; brother Wayne Stephenson and wife Lana; Sister-in-law Peggy Stephenson; Brother-in-law Morris Outlaw and many loving friends and extended family members. A memorial service will be held 11:00am, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Irving.
