Obituary for Billy R. Campbell

Billy R. Campbell, age 88, entered Heavens Gate on Saturday, November 17, 2018. He was born in Cisco, Texas to George Thomas and Mary (Ray) Campbell on Tuesday, July 9, 1930. Billy, lived a full and productive life, accomplishing things most people would only dream of. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he served in the NE Command in Greenland in the communications department. Billy graduated from Stamford Highschool, Class of 1947, and kept in touch with his classmates on a regular basis. He was a University of Texas Alumni, a member of the University of Texas Flying Club and of Texas-Exe’s as well as devote Longhorns fan. Billy was member of Las Colinas Country Club, and a Golf Championship winner. He began the Pony X-Press in 1973 and ran it successfully until he sold it in 2012. Billy also worked for LTV aerospace division for 15 years, was an Officer in the Civitan Club for over 10 years and a Gideon for 5 years. He was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church for over 50 years, sang in the adult choir and the Joyful Noise choir, and a past member of Joy Ministry. He will lovingly be remembered for the love he had for his family, never missing any birthdays or holidays. He is reunited in Heaven with his loving wife of 65 years, Patti J. Campbell, both parents, brother in laws Jim Haas Sr. and Howard Overby as well as his sister Alyeen Overby. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Melanie Campbell-Dunn and husband Dan; daughter Connie Campbell-Johnson and husband David; grandchildren Courtney Frazier and husband Aaron, Brittany Castillo and husband Michael, Jonathan Dunn and wife Captain Gabrielle, David Johnson and Christina Rampelbergh and husband Leslie; great-grandchildren, Jerilyn Hajek, Landon Frazier, Ryan Dunn and Alexandria Johnson; grandnieces Christina DePrez and Kathryn Penfield and husband Chris; nephews Jim Hass Jr. and wife Karen, Steve Overby and wife Debbie; grand nephews Peter and Andrew Overby along with numerous extended family and loving friends. A memorial service to celebrate Billy’s wonderful life will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N. Story Road in Irving, with a committal with Military Honors at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn Creek Pkwy in Dallas following at 2:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the service and line up in lane 3.
