Obituary for Lavada Euvaughn Cooper (Collins)

Lavada Euvaughn Collins Cooper, age 88, died on Saturday, November 24, 2018. She was born in Decatur, Texas to Henry C. and Clara (Blackstock) Collins on Monday, November 25, 1929. Lavada graduated from Diamond Hills High School in Ft. Worth, class of 1945. Shortly after graduation she met the love of her life George N. Cooper Jr., they married after 6 short weeks then he was deployed to London in 2 weeks. Later, they were reunited and spent 3 years together in England. She was a member of the Irving ISD breakfast club, that met at Joe’s coffee shop for years. On Mother’s Day in 1976, Lavada’s life would forever change, when George had a motorcycle wreck, and was paralyzed; from that day forward, she devoted her life as a caregiver to him and they were inseparable. Lavada, found the most joy spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She will lovingly be remembered for her love, loyalty and dedication to her family and her love of animals predominately cats. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Clara, husband of 62 years George N. Cooper and daughter Judith Cooper Nichols. Left to cherish her memory is son Edwin Byron Cooper and wife Mara; brother H.C. Collins and wife Minnie; brother William “Bill” Collins; brother Vernie Collins and wife Dolly; grandchildren Paul Byron Cooper, Kathryn Cooper Mash and husband Bradley, Daniel George Cooper and wife Miranda as well as their mother Karen Cooper; great grandchildren Cooper Mash, Ryder Mash, Jackson Cooper and Jayden Barrera along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held 10:00am, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the funeral home with an interment at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane in Dallas immediately following.
