Obituary for Jimmy Crook

Jimmy Crook, age 92, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was born in Cresson, Texas to Lee Frank and Marie (Dillard) Crook on Monday, May 31, 1926. Jimmy grew up on a farm where every animal had a name, he loved his mules named “Salt” and “Pepper”. He was great at basketball, in his younger years, enjoyed trail rides and was quite the handyman, restoring old wagons, repairing tractors and had all the tools he ever needed, most of which he found. On June 24, 1950, Jimmy married the love of his life and square-dancing partner Dolores; after only 3 months into their marriage he had to report to Fort Hood and soon thereafter was deployed to Korea. He will forever be remembered as a great and fair man, who’s laugh was very contagious and often better than the joke or story being told. He had a loving way about him and was able to say what needed to be said, to who it needed to be said in the exact way it needed to be said. He is preceded in death by his parents Lee Frank and Marie, sister Beth Carlson, sister Christine Ince and brother Frank Crook. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 68 years, Dolores Crook; son Jim Crook and wife Cindy; son Doug Crook and wife Lori; grandchildren Carlo, Angela, Nathan, Nick, Holli and Heather; great grandchildren Brandon, Caleb, Timothy, Ethan, Abigail and Rosalie; brother Lee Dillard Crook and wife Purita along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held 10:00am, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the funeral home with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
