Obituary for Linda Kay Hames De La Cruz (Sadler)

Linda Kay Hames De La Cruz, age 69, died surrounded by family and friends on Friday, January 4, 2019 at her home in Arlington, Texas. Linda was born on August 5, 1949 in Fort Worth, Texas. Linda was a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. She was a person of influence in her community, receiving the “News 8 Lady of Texas” award. She was the founder of “Child Abuse Prevention” known as the CAP Program in the Arlington Independent School District. She worked hard to serve others and make a difference in this world. She is preceded in death by her parents Merlin and Nina Whitfield; daughter Faith Hames; brothers Jimmy Roy and Johnnye Sadler. Left to cherish her memory are husband Jaime De La Cruz; sons JR Hames and wife Cindy, Stephen “Hotrod” Hames and wife Tiffany, Mario De La Cruz, Emilio De La Cruz; daughters Nicole Pena and husband Joe, Marissa De La Cruz; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as many extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the SPCA of Texas.
