Obituary for Charles Walter Gilmore

Charles Walter Gilmore, age 78, died peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2019. He was born in Clarksville, Tennessee to Charles Haygood and Gladys Elizabeth (Mossburg) Gilmore on Friday, July 5, 1940. Charles, although born in Tennessee lived most of his life in Oklahoma, until in 1966 he moved to Texas to work as an air conditioning and heat technician serviceman. He found great joy in working with his hands and enjoyed his work, especially the training of future service techs. Charles worked many years going place to place working from a service truck but spent the last bit of his working years on location at Baylor Dallas, until his retirement from the heating and air industry in 2008. He will lovingly be remembered as a “man on the move” and unable to sit idly, always tinkering on mechanical stuff, cars and DIY projects as well as a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Suzanne S. Gilmore. Left to cherish his memory are son Gary Gilmore; son Glen Gilmore; grandchildren Joshua, Justin and Emily Gilmore; sister Helen Day; sister Mary Ann Orr and husband John along with numerous extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Saturday, January 12, 2018 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. The family requests memorial donations to the Parkinson’s Research at https://www.michaeljfox.org/ .
