Obituary for Robert "Scott" McKenzie

Robert "Scott" McKenzie
Robert “Scott” McKenzie passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the young age of 51. Scott was born in Milton, Florida and never lost his love for Florida and its beaches. As a Navy “brat” he lived in many places throughout the United States and graduated from high school in Moraga, California. He worked in the food service industry most of his life and became an excellent gourmet cook. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Duke Blue Devils, and the Florida Gators. Scott loved to play golf and routinely played various courses in the north Dallas/Irving area. He also greatly enjoyed playing Texas Hold ‘Em Poker. Besides the Florida beaches Scott especially loved Kapalua Bay in Hawaii and all the beaches in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Going snorkeling in the ocean off those beaches brought him great pleasure.
The best influence in his life was Sue Norwood Barnhill. She and Scott had twelve wonderful years together, played golf together and roamed the aforementioned beaches in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. They made many great friends in the Irving area, and especially enjoyed meeting some of those friends for a feast of crawfish at “Nates”. Scott had a wonderful sense of humor and his laughter would light up any gathering. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Scott is survived by Sue Norwood Barnhill; his daughter Brooklyn McKenzie of Knoxville, TN; his mother and father, Robert and Ann McKenzie of Round Rock; his sister Kelli Long of New Braunfels and her husband Tom Long; his nephew Branson Long of Lubbock; his niece McKenzie Long of Lubbock, and his niece Alison Long of New Braunfels.
There will be no formal service. Sue is planning a “Celebration of Life”, to be announced. Scott wished to be cremated and returned to the beautiful white beaches near Pensacola. And thus it shall be. Maikaʻi ke keiki…Goodbye our son.
