Benny Murray, age 79, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Benny was born on March 29, 1939, in Wortham, Texas, to Lacy Edwin Murray and Juanita (Burton) Murray. Benny was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Benny took great pride in being self-sufficient and instilled that same value in his children. He could fix anything that was broken-- electrical, plumbing, automotive--and always enjoyed making home improvements. In his spare time, Benny enjoyed playing golf and collecting coins. Benny is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Albert E. and Kenneth R. Murray. Left to cherish his memory are his spouse of 53 years, Barbara Murray; daughter Lawri Williamson and husband John; son Paul Murray; grandchildren Gavin Murray and Ryan Murray; as well as many other extended family and loving friends. A Committal with Military Honors will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75220. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or United Service Organizations. I have known Benny for over 70 years. We grew up together around Wortham and went to school there. He has been a good friend and I am going to miss our phone conversations and his emails. I am sorry I cannot attend his funeral service due to a medical procedure. Jerry Calame

My maternal grandfather married Benny's mother when I was a young child. I met Benny while attending the family gatherings over the years. As life went along I moved with a husband and our two daughters to the same city as Benny and wife, Barbara and children, Lawri and Paul were living. So grateful to have had the privilege to know what a wonderful, funny and witty guy. It was always funny when we bumped into each other at the local Kroger buying groceries. Sometimes buying each others groceries depending who was first in the line. My thoughts and prayers to Barbara, Lawri and Paul. Benny may you have eternal peace. Love, Dianna

I met Ben Murray a long time ago in Wortham, Tx - We were both 5 yrs old - I have known him for almost 3/4 of a century - We became lifelong
friends then and remained so until his passing - We had many great times together - Most I can tell you about and a few I can not - How many
good friends can you have for 74 yrs ? He was a great person and will be forever missed. -

I'm married to Ben's beautiful daughter Lawri so I've had the pleasure of knowing him for more than 25yrs. I've told Lawri countless times over the years that her father is just a really good guy. It was true the day I met him and remained so throughout the years. I think the two great kids that he and Barbara raised are proof of it. I'll miss him a lot but it's a small price to pay for getting to know him.
