Obituary

Amos Raymond “Ray” Mahaffey, age 95, died peacefully at home on Sunday, February 17, 2019. He was born in Houston, Texas to Ashley Raymond and Marie Oline (Boudreaux) Mahaffey on Friday, May 4, 1923. Ray, proudly served in the United States Air Force, during World War II. In 1978, he retired from the Air Force Reserves as Lieutenant Colonel. Although a Houston native, Ray called Irving his home for 57 years. Ray was proud of his involvement with Boy Scouts of America, the most special time being those spent with his son Ray Jr. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed. Ray is preceded in death by both parents, his wife of 66 ½ years, Lois Alline Mahaffey, son Ray Jr and brother Leonard Mahaffey. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Betty Ladusau and husband Tim; daughter Patti Chamadias and husband Richard; granddaughter Jennifer Ladusau; grandson Jeff Ladusau and wife Cristen; granddaughter Carrie Ring and husband Creighton; granddaughter Ashley Daniels; grandson Michael Chamadias; great grandchildren Jeyci Lopez. Jesyca Lopez, Jadyn Lopez, Luke Ladusau, Matthew Ladusau, Lauren Ring, Leah Ring and Julia Ring along with numerous extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 12:30 and 2:00pm, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving with the funeral beginning at 2:00pm. A committal with Military Honors will be held 10:15am, Monday, February 25, 2019 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy in Dallas. A special thank you to Ray’s caregivers, who made it possible for him to be at home. The family request memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/ .
