Obituary for Agnes Carroll Cummins Simmons

Agnes Carroll Cummins Simmons, age 89, awoke in Heaven on Saturday, May 11, 2019. She was born in San Antonio, Texas to Benjamin Maurice and Agnes Kemp (Brown) Cummins on Friday, April 25, 1930. Agnes was a lover of books, poetry, watercolor, wine and chocolate, she loved Sweet Jack most of all. At the age of 6, she left San Antonio and moved with her family to Clovis, New Mexico; there she lived until the age of 10 and they moved to Taft, Texas. After her marriage to Jackie Lee Simmons, she moved around Texas a bit, living in Coahoma, Sweetwater, Fort Worth, Houston and Dallas. In 1957 Agnes moved to Richardson, Texas then to Gainesville in the late 1970’s, to Boerne in 1982, Coppell in 2008 and spent her last 4 years in Dallas. Although she had a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Agnes enjoyed being a homemaker, and caring for her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Jackie Lee Simmons. Left to cherish her memory are children Carroll Simmons Benham, Lee Maurice Simmons, Keith Dwayne Simmons, Jesse Ray Simmons and Elizabeth Mary Simmons; Twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Church of the Apostles, 322 S. MacArthur Blvd in Coppell, with an interment at Furneaux Cemetery, 3701 Cemetery Hill Rd. in Carrolton immediately following. The family request memorial contributions to be made to The Early Learning Center of St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Boerne, TX.
