Laura Duarte, at the age of 56, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 6, 2019. Laura was born on July 14, 1962 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Ray Talley and Sandra (McKnight) Talley. Laura had a love for styling hair. She attended cosmetology school and received her styling license. She became a stylist with Hair Creations Inc. in Garland, TX. Upon relocating to Little Rock, AR she became employed with Harvest Foods and Serenity Park Recovery Center. She was also employed with the UAMS Cancer Institute, as well as being a weekend residential manager with the BCD Empowerment Center. Laura had a love for horses and was a barrel racer in her younger years. She was good with plants and had a God given green thumb for anything she touched. Laura’s morning routine included coffee and prayer. She loved older people, giving back to her community, and ministering to people in the recovery centers. Laura was a great cook and servant at heart. She loved her family so much and just wanted to be with her children and grandchildren. Laura was affectionately known by her children and friends as “Momma”. She was a kind, loving woman strong enough to raise three boys. She would always give her last dollar or the shirt off her back to help others. Laura had a strong faith, was devoted to her church and had a pure love for the Lord. While living in Dallas, Texas she fellowshipped with Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship. She served at Theressa Hoover United Methodist Church in the capacity of an usher. Laura united with Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kevin A. Kelly where she used her gift as being a social butterfly and never meeting a stranger, as part of the New Member Intake Ministry. Laura’s memories will live on in the hearts of those who have been touched by her kind spirit and love for her fellow man. She received her crown of life on Monday, May 6, 2019.
