Obituary for Major Oscar M. Bushwar, USAF, Ret.

Major Oscar M. Bushwar, USAF, RET., died peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. He was born in Bowser, Texas to William Leslie and Bessie (Cooper) Bushwar on Thursday, October 30, 1924. Oscar lived a long proud and accomplished life, leaving an amazing legacy and inspiration behind. Oscar joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country from 1942 until his retirement in 1976, after 33 years of service. During his time of service as a pilot, he served during WWII, Korea, the Cuban Crisis and Vietnam. He received a Bachelors degree from SMU, and although retired, Oscar was not the type of man to sit idly and do nothing. He began work at Sears, Roebuck & Company in Dallas, Texas, where he stayed for 10 years. Oscar began work with the NCH (National Chemsearch) as the accounts receivable manager, for 14 years, until his 2nd retirement in 1993. He was a proud member of the U.S. Air Force Association (life member), Daedalian Association (life member), Quiet Birdmen (life member) and the Irving Noon Day Lions Club. He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Bushwar; son William L. Bushwar and spouse Blevins; daughter Cindi John and spouse Raland; grandson Jon Bushwar and spouse Susan; granddaughter Jennifer Mikeska and spouse Jeremy; granddaughter Amanda Person and spouse Sean; granddaughter Kati Beth John and spouse Shane Maggart; great grandsons Keaton Mikeska, Gavin Mikeska, Liam Bushwar and Axel Person; great granddaughters Gracyn Mikeska, Rylann Mikeska, Marin Bushwar and Ellery Bushwar; sister - in - law Eileen Bushwar along with numerous nephews, nieces and other extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00pm, Friday, June 7, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will be held at 3:00pm, Tuesday, June 11, 2019 also at the funeral home. A committal service with Full Military Honors will be at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mtn Creek Pkwy in Dallas on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
