Obituary for Tommy Leon Underwood

Tommy Leon Underwood, age 56 died on Monday, June 17, 2019. Tommy was born on May 31, 1963 in Garland, Texas to Cordelia Elizabeth (Smith) Underwood and Donald Wayne Underwood. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and received his honorable discharge on April 2, 1987. Tommy was very friendly, never met a stranger, and had a great sense of humor. He loved being in the outdoors, enjoyed fishing the most and hunting too. In addition to his day job as an account representative in the healthcare industry, Tommy served as a professional clown. He really enjoyed the impact he had at birthday parties and such. He possessed a sense of toughness and gained more sensitivity as he got older. He loved his family dearly and adored his grandson Isaiah. Tommy never passed up the opportunity to give others a hard time. His teasing was a sure sign that he cared. He was a dancing fool and believed he could sing like Elvis, regardless of what others thought. Tommy was a member of the DeMolay International in his younger years and participated in the rodeo. He was also a very talented artist. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are wife Carla Underwood; son Justin Underwood; daughter Elizabeth Moreno and husband Agustin; grandson Isaiah Moreno; brothers Jack Underwood and wife Kelly, Larry Underwood, David Underwood and wife Teresa; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061.
