Obituary for Robert Ernest "Bob" Keener

Robert Ernest Keener, also known as “Bob” by his coworkers, died unexpectedly at the age of 63 on Tuesday, August 27, 2019. He was born in Dallas, Texas to Bobby Joe and Joan (Lemons) Keener on Wednesday, July 4, 1956. Robert possessed a great sense of humor and imparted on others, when given the opportunity, profound nuggets of his wisdom. He also was known to be a little on the stubborn side and would state “I have backed more miles than you’ve moved forward” as well as “I have forgotten more than others know”. Robert is fondly remembered as being quite a character, and lots of fun to be around, who invested much into those around him. No matter what you remembered about him, you knew he loved and adored his family and his grandbabies held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed camping, casinos and the Dallas Cowboys, not necessarily in that order. Robert enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers and the Andy Griffith Show on the tv, however he was drawn to the open road and was his happiest when he was there. He was a big ole teddy bear who will be deeply missed by so many. Robert is preceded in death by father Bobby Joe Keener and daughter Tiffany Keener. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Phyllis Barnes; son Dusty Keener and wife Sarah; daughter Kaitlynn Keener; mother Joan Keener; brother Bobby Keener and wife Ann; brother Gary Keener; sister Linda Tenery and husband Kenny; sister Becky Keener; sister Liz Suarez and husband Fred; sister Laura Tsunekawa and husband Mike; 4 grandchildren Trent Keener, Lexi Keener, Alex Harris and Bella Keener, along with numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended loving family and friends. The family will receive friends between 10:00am and 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 N. MacArthur Blvd in Irving. A funeral service will begin at 12:00pm, also at the funeral home with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
