Obituary for Charlene Sue Mee (Ford)

Charlene Sue Mee, age 80, died on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Charlene was born on June 12, 1939 in Lenna, Oklahoma to Iva Dot (Calvert) Ford and Volnia Ford. Charlene was a devout family woman who believed very strongly in having a presence in the home. This gave her the wonderful opportunity to care for her children, and later her grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and a master gardener. Charlene started cooking when she was ten years old and really enjoyed providing hospitality to others. She loved her dogs and her parrot named “Bird”. She was a passionate reader till her eyes began to fail. The only TV she cared to watch involved either the Texas Rangers or the Wheel of Fortune. She loved being at home and was never enticed to travel. She would leave the house to do a little shopping but that was the extent of it. She met her husband on a street corner as he was directing traffic in his police uniform. She and Clarence married and remained by each other’s side for fifty-seven years. Charlene is preceded in death by her parents and brother Lucky Ford. Left to cherish her memory are husband Clarence Mee; daughters Kimberly Black and husband Chip, Cynthia Franklin and husband Scott; son Stephen Mee; grandchildren Andy Black, Chris Black, Katie Morrow, Brendan Morrow, Lyndsey Franklin, Tyler Franklin, Christopher Franklin; sisters Loretta Escue, Kathryn Burleson; brothers Maxie Ford, Danny Ford, Calvin Ford, Phil Ford; dog Buddy; numerous other nieces, nephews, extended family and loving friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, September 16, 2019 at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home, 707 North MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX 75061. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday the 17th at the funeral home with an interment immediately following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060.
