Obituary for Ann Shafer

Ann Shafer, age 79, awoke in Heaven on Tuesday, September 24, 2019. She was born in Irving, Texas to Johnnie Pershing and Nelda Faye (Tidwell) Shafer on Tuesday, July 30, 1940. Ann was a giving soul, who loved the Lord and was always doing his work. She was a long-time member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church where she stayed actively involved helping in many different areas of the church. For many years she worked as a secretary in her Sunday School class, has helped and attended a home study church group, and many other activities involving her Sunday School church friends, sang in the choir and just a few years ago she helped the women’s group teach English to the Spanish speaking congregation. Outside of church, Ann’s favorite times where spent with her friends, family and beloved dog Presley. Anyone who met and knew Ann, remember her always smiling, and fondly remember her for having the greatest and most infectious smile. She was a graduate of the University of Texas in Dallas, where she received her bachelor’s degree of Science in Business Administration. Ann also enjoyed traveling, where she would use her passion for photography to document the places she had been.
She is preceded in death by her parents Johnnie and Nelda Shafer, sister Sue Shafer Hart and brother James Shafer. Left to cherish her memory are her brother in law Chuck Hart; niece Susan Pigrenet and husband Toy; great nephew Blake Pigrenet and wife Kim; great nephew Brent Pigrenet; great niece Brittany Timmons and husband Blake; great nephew Chase Pigrenet along with numerous other great great nieces, nephews and other extended loving family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N. Story Rd. in Irving, with an interment at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens immediately following.
