Obituary for John Earl Eitson

John Earl Eitson passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 in Irving, Texas. He was born to Albert and Sadie (Dodd) Eitson on November 10, 1922 in Crescent, Oklahoma. John proudly served his country in the United States Army with 270th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater during World War II. He married Vera Hillman in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1952 and they resided in Midwest City, Oklahoma for many years while he worked at Tinker Air Force Base until his early retirement in 1976. It was during that period at Tinker he pursued his higher education and earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Liberal Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 1973, along with being an Elder at Midwest Boulevard Christian Church and a Boy Scout Leader. John loved working on cars and small engines and enjoyed doing carpentry projects around his house. He also enjoyed computers and doing extensive genealogy research. In 1991, John and Vera made the decision to move to Irving, Texas to be near their son John and his family. The oldest of seven siblings, he is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Wesley Eitson, Jim Eitzen and Mike Eitson. He will be forever missed by his beloved wife, Vera Eitson of Irving; son John Eitson and wife Leigh also of Irving; his grandchildren Jennifer Eitson of Irving; Jonathon Eitson and wife Megan of Denton; three sisters Mary Ellen Stewart, Sylvia Ochs and Darla Wilson all of Guthrie, OK along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. John will be remembered as a good Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be missed by all. John’s family would like to express how extremely grateful they are for the compassionate care he received at Avante Rehabilitation Center where he had resided, and also from the nurses and aides at Vitas Hospice. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, September 13, 2015 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with Dr. Bill LaBarr officiating. The family will receive friends at Brown’s Memorial Funeral Home in Irving from Noon to 1:00 PM just prior to the service. The family requests memorial donations in his honor to be made to the charity of your choice.
